Malnutrition on the rise in Gaza

As COVID-19 takes hold of Gaza, more children are at risk.

Ali is one of the growing number of children in Gaza that urgently needed lifesaving nutritional care, and that need is only set to increase as the consequences of COVID-19 escalate.

The major issue so far with COVID-19 in Gaza is not deaths from the virus itself, it is the exacerbation of poverty and food insecurity rates as the threat of the virus escalates. As shops and businesses are forced to close, suddenly the few jobs which were available are disappearing. As a direct result, more families are unable to put food on the table.

Our deepest concern is that as the economic situation worsens, acute malnutrition will rise rapidly. More and more families are heading to the MAP-supported Ard El Insan Malnutrition clinic for the health and nutritional care they need for their children, however it is unable to serve everyone.

Before the COVID-19 pandemic, 68% of the population was food insecure.

Vital resources for children suffering from malnutrition are becoming less available, and the risk to their longterm health is rising as a result.

A donation from you could help provide substantial quantities of supplements, like iron and vitamin D, to prevent and treat illnesses like anaemia and rickets in children.

Please make a donation today. Thank you for your kindness and support during these difficult times.

Zakat donations to Medical Aid for Palestinians

There are many occasions throughout the year that people choose to send Medical Aid for Palestinians a donation to help Palestinians in need.

Over the years, the annual Medical Aid for Palestinians Ramadan appeal has provided considerable benefit to some of the most vulnerable and marginalised Palestinians communities in Lebanon and occupied Palestine.

How does Medical Aid for Palestinians use Zakat for the benefit of those most in need?

Many medicines and other medical items are in desperately short supply in the occupied Palestinian Territory. MAP is responding by helping to provide as many urgently needed disposables, medicines and equipment as we can. We can only do this thanks to the financial support we receive from supporters like you.

MAP will use 100% of all Zakat donations we receive to help respond to the current medicines emergency in Gaza and in the West Bank. Your Zakat donation will be used to buy the medicines, medical items and equipment that hospitals need right now. When you make your donation, please ensure you tell us that it is Zakat.

You can make your Zakat Gift have greater impact by adding Gift Aid to your donation.
