Breast Cancer Appeal

More than one third of permits are denied or delayed for cancer patients in Gaza.

Radiotherapy for cancer patients in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt) is only available in East Jerusalem, meaning patients from Gaza must apply to Israel for a permit to access treatment. One third of these permits are denied or delayed, which risks interrupted care.

We must continue to help provide life-saving medicines and disposables to Palestinian hospitals. Latest figures show that 44% of oncology (cancer) and hematology drugs are at zero stock in Gaza – meaning there is less than one month's supply left, or they have already run out completely.

Your donation could help to pay for urgently needed supplies like fluorouracil and oxaliplatin, which treat various types of cancer in patients.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among Palestinian women, comprising 29% of all cancer diagnoses for women in the West Bank and 20% in Gaza. But only 65% of Palestinian women survive more than five years after diagnosis of breast cancer, compared to 85% of women in the UK and almost 90% of women in neighbouring Israel. This is why we need your support to bring life-saving medicine and treatment to Palestinian women and help address this injustice. Your donation could help us get lifesaving medicines like the ones listed above into the hands of doctors in the oPT to treat Palestinians.

Please consider setting up a monthly donation today. Thank you.

Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is the obligation for Muslims to give a proportion of their wealth to charity each year.

How does Medical Aid for Palestinians use Zakat Donations?

Across the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt), Palestinian hospitals are in desperate need of basic, yet essential medicines and medical supplies. Many medical items needed to treat patients are regularly in short supply or have already ran out completely. At Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), we help by purchasing as many urgently needed medicines, medical supplies and equipment as we can. We can only do this thanks to the financial support we receive from supporters like you. You can choose to make your donation to us a 'Zakat donation' by selecting the checkbox in our donation forms.

MAP uses 100% of all the Zakat donations we receive to respond to the ongoing medicines and medical supply emergency in Gaza and in the West Bank. If you want to make a Zakat donation, please remember to tick the Zakat box on the donation page.

You can make your Zakat Gift have even greater impact by adding Gift Aid to your donation.

If you would like to discuss your donation further, please contact us on 020 7226 4114 or [email protected]

Thank you for your support.
