The UK is turning its back on Palestinian healthcare, with potentially dire consequences for the population of the occupied Palestinian territory.
The UK Government has cut its aid funding to Palestinian health and education workers, which helped pay the salaries of tens of thousands of Palestinian public servants including doctors and teachers. Amid the COVID-19 crisis and unprecedented pressures on the healthcare system, this risks severely undermining the health and wellbeing of Palestinians.
The UK has also cut its core grant to UNRWA by more than 50% in 2021, threatening the continuity of essential services to Palestinian refugees at a time when the agency is "close to collapse" according to its Commissioner General, Philippe Lazzarini.
