Images For Justice is a new creative development grant launched in memory of Tomo Brody, a talented filmmaker and storyteller, whose dedication to capturing unseen human experiences helped to shed light on untold stories.

Tomo filmed with displaced communities across the Middle East, and he worked as a filmmaker with Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) in Lebanon and the occupied Palestinian territory. It is a fitting legacy that a new generation of talented storytellers will now be supported to share their work with a global audience.

About the award

The Images for Justice award aims to raise and distribute funds to emerging Palestinian advocates and creatives across the refugee camps in Lebanon and in the occupied Palestinian territory. Award winners can be at any stage of their career. The awards will work in a flexible way to ensure that any funds provided can be used as needed by the recipients.

Images for Justice will make award(s) of up to £10,000 to an individual or collective of creators working in a community supported by MAP and its partners, either in Gaza, the occupied West Bank or the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.

Funds can be used for the development of any creative output including film, photography, audio visual content, written work content or animation. It may also be used for equipment, training or other needs related to creative platforms for marginalised and unheard voices.

As well as financial support, award winners will be able to access mentoring, training and support from community journalism organisation, On Our Radar. We will also endeavour to make introductions to relevant media agencies with the aim of showcasing work and contributing to professional development.
