Take action: call on the UK Government to help save lives in Gaza

Gaza is experiencing a humanitarian emergency. Please write to your MP, using the tool below, and ask them to call on the UK government to take action to support patients in Gaza.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres recently said that Gaza is experiencing "one of the most dramatic humanitarian crises that I have seen in many years." Gaza’s living conditions have deteriorated since Israel’s imposition of a blockade and closure in 2007. This has been exacerbated by severe power shortages. Homes and hospitals are now receiving just four hours of mains electricity per day.

Healthcare is in crisis. Hospitals have cut back on all but the most essential services, 35% of essential medicines are completely out of stock, and neonatal intensive care units across Gaza are experiencing dangerous levels of overcrowding, putting babies’ lives at risk.

The UK Government can help address this emergency and save lives by:

- Increasing DFID support for Gaza, both through the UN’s US$25 million humanitarian funding appeal and long-term investment in healthcare
- Using all diplomatic opportunities – including multilateral forums and bilateral relations with Israel – to bring an end to the closure of Gaza

Please write to your MP and ask them to contact Alistair Burt, Minister of State for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and Department for International Development (DfID), and urge him to take action today:
