Medical Aid for Palestinians was saddened to hear of the loss of Sheikh Tosun Bayrak, of the Jerrahi Order of America, in February 2018. An author and Sufi who translated many important and classic texts, he was a long-term supporter of MAP’s humanitarian work and his contribution meant that we were able to progress our mission of ensuring health and dignity for all Palestinians.
With the generous and longstanding support of the Jerrahi Order of America, MAP was able to deliver emergency aid in Gaza including medicines, hygiene kits, and food parcels during the last three major conflicts.
In his long and illustrious life, Sheikh Tosun was an artist, businessman, teacher, and also involved in Morocco’s independence movement, before finding Sufiism and joining the Jerrahi Order, through which vocation he was greatly respected far and wide.
From all of the people that we work with in Palestine, our staff, our Trustees and our supporters, we want to say thank you to Sheikh Tosun Bayrak and we are honored to have been a part of his life. We are saddened by this loss, but are richer for knowing him.
