Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) along with our partner IDEALS, has been working with Dr Mahmoud Matar, a senior orthopaedic surgeon in Gaza since 2015. For the past year, Dr Matar has been treating protestors’ complex limb injuries at Gaza’s largest hospital.
Next Thursday, Dr Matar will speaking in London at Amnesty International UK alongside Dr Tarek Loubani, who was shot in the legs at the protests in Gaza. The pair will discuss their experiences and the wider challenges of providing healthcare amid the 12-year closure of Gaza.
