Fundraising events: Frequently asked questions
Thinking about fundraising for Medical Aid for Palestinians? This page answers the most common questions about taking part in our fundraising events.
Why do I have to commit to a minimum fundraising amount when I sign up for a charity place?
Charity places are limited and come at a cost to us, so a minimum fundraising commitment helps make sure each place is worthwhile.
If you have any questions about this, please email us at [email protected] or call +44 (0)20 7226 4114.
Why does MAP ask for an entry fee and a fundraising pledge?
Running events come with costs, including; buying charity places, providing running tops, and supporting participants along the way. The registration fee and pledge ensure that MAP can take part in these events and maximise the funds that go directly to our work.
I don't want to commit to a minimum fundraising target - what should I do?
You'll need to get your own place in the event through the event organisers' website.
If you'd still like to fundraise for us and join Team MAP, let us know at [email protected] or call +44 (0)20 7226 4114. Any amount you could raise for us would be fantastic!
What happens if I don't meet the minimum fundraising target?
Not meeting your minimum fundraising target means that it is likely to cost the charity money. If you are concerned that this might happen, please let us know as soon as possible so that we can offer help and guidance.
Give us a call on +44 (0)20 7226 4114 or email [email protected], and we'll provide you with advice to avoid this.
When does my fundraising need to be in by?
You have four weeks after the event to collect and send in your donations. If you're fundraising online, your page will transfer donations to us automatically.
Can I defer my place to next year?
If you are injured or are unable to run due to other commitments or unforeseen circumstances, then we may be able to defer your place but cannot guarantee this. Each deferral request is considered on a case-by-case basis.
Give us a call on +44 (0)20 7226 4114 or email [email protected] to discuss your circumstances.
Can I transfer my place to another event?
If you are injured or are unable to run your chosen event due to other commitments or unforeseen circumstances, then we may be able to move your place to another event.
Check out our other races to find something suitable and contact us at [email protected] or call +44 (0)20 7226 4114.
When will I receive my race pack which includes my race number?
The race pack containing your race number will be sent by the event organisers. Please visit the FAQs section on the event organiser's website for more details. We'll send you a MAP running shirt and your 1-1 fundraising guidance separately.
Will MAP be there on the day?
Sadly, we are a small team and cannot attend every event, as much as we'd love to! If we are going to be there, we'll let you know where to find us in the week before the event.
What happens if I get injured or I can no longer take part?
It depends on how you got your place.
If you booked your own place through the organisers, contact them directly and they'll let you know about deferral options. A quick note to us would be appreciated too.
If you have a charity place through MAP, please let us know as soon as possible. If there's enough time before the registration deadline, we may be able to pass your place to another fundraiser. We cannot automatically defer your place to next year's event, and all registration fees are non-refundable.
