Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) is delighted to announce that Steve Cutts has been appointed as permanent Chief Executive Officer. He will take on the role from 1 October 2025.
As Interim CEO, Steve led the organisation as it mounted the largest emergency aid response in its 40 year history, amid Israel’s genocide in Gaza and growing health and humanitarian needs in the West Bank and Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. Steve also brings a wealth of international experience having held a number of leadership posts, including Assistant Secretary-General at both the UN and Commonwealth and Chef de Cabinet and Deputy Executive Director at the OECD.
Prof. Nick Maynard, Chair of MAP’s Board of Trustees, said: “We are delighted that Steve has agreed to become MAP’s CEO on a permanent basis. His deep passion for the organisation and its people has been clear throughout the past year, as he has guided the organisation with unwavering leadership at a critical time for the communities we serve. We are grateful for his steadfast commitment to MAP’s mission, and know MAP will be in safe hands as it works towards a future where all Palestinians can access an effective, sustainable and locally-led system of healthcare.”
Steve Cutts, MAP CEO, said: “I am grateful to the Board for the confidence they have placed in me to return to MAP to lead the organisation through the next stage of its journey, at a time when the Palestinian people are suffering some of the worst crimes committed in the 21st century. With the support of my amazing MAP colleagues, I will seek to bring passionate and compassionate leadership to the role of MAP CEO, and commit myself wholeheartedly to the achievement of our mission to ensure the health, dignity and human rights of the Palestinians we serve.”
Steve’s appointment follows the departure of Tim Holmes, who, after discussions with the Board, has recently left MAP. MAP’s board are grateful for Tim’s contribution during his time with us and wish him every success for the future.
