People with disabilities in Gaza, the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and refugee camps in Lebanon face immense barriers to basic services. Violence, discrimination, displacement and poverty have stripped away access to healthcare, assistive devices, rehabilitation and safe, accessible spaces. Movement restrictions, destroyed infrastructure and overcrowded living conditions make daily life even harder.
Since October 2023, the crisis in Gaza has deepened and the challenges have grown. Bombed hospitals, disrupted services, and inaccessible shelters have left many people with disabilities cut off from vital care and support. The physical and emotional toll is growing, and there is an urgent need for inclusive, rights-based, tailored support that enables them to reclaim their dignity and independence.
Going beyond inclusion
We’re working towards a future where people with disabilities are not just included, but given the support they need to thrive.
- Disability support is built into everything we do: we work to remove physical, social and systemic barriers to ensure inclusion across all our programmes.
- Community-led rehabilitation: our targeted rehab services and local outreach help people with disabilities access care close to home, regain independence and build resilience.
- Challenge and change: we support people with disabilities to challenge stigma, shift public perceptions and become active leaders in their communities.
- Nothing about us without us: people with disabilities help shape our projects from the beginning, ensuring their needs and voices are at the heart of every decision.
- Long-term impact: by strengthening individuals, families and health systems, we create lasting, dignified solutions - available even in times of crisis.
