Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) is delighted to announce the appointment of Tim Holmes as Chief Executive Officer. He will join MAP on 14 July 2025 and take over as CEO following an induction and handover process.
Tim Holmes is currently the International Operations Director at Oxfam GB, where he has held a number of senior roles, including being Country Director for the occupied Palestinian territory and Israel, and Regional Director for the Middle East and Former Soviet Union. Tim brings nearly 30 years of experience in the humanitarian and development sector, including previous roles at Tearfund and the Aga Khan Foundation, with much of it spent living and working in fragile and conflict-affected countries.
Tim will be joining MAP while it is delivering the largest relief effort in the organisation’s history, as it responds to overwhelming humanitarian needs resulting from Israel’s widespread destruction and atrocities in Gaza, its attacks on Lebanon, and unprecedented levels of Israeli military and settler violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.
Tim Holmes said: “Despite huge challenges, MAP continues, day in day out, to respond to immediate health needs and work towards the full realisation of Palestinian rights to health and dignity. I am incredibly honoured to join the amazing MAP team at this critical time.”
Chair of MAP’s Board of Trustees, Richard Makepeace, said: “In Gaza and across the region, many of the Palestinian communities MAP serves are under existential threat, and so the organisation’s work has never been more vital. We have every confidence that, with his extensive experience overseeing the delivery of large-scale aid programmes and deep regional understanding, Tim will provide effective leadership for our teams, and ensure MAP continues to speak out proudly in support of Palestinians’ rights to health, dignity and justice.”
Steve Cutts, who has served as MAP’s interim CEO since September 2024, said: “I am delighted Tim will join MAP as its new CEO. This is an incredible organisation with the most amazing staff, many of whom risk their lives to help the Palestinian community we serve and all of whom show unswerving dedication to our mission. While I am looking forward to returning to my home in New York, I will always stand ready to support MAP and its new CEO in any way I can.”
