MAP appoints Steve Cutts as Interim CEO

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) is delighted to announce the appointment of Steve Cutts as interim Chief Executive Officer.

Steve will oversee MAP's expanding humanitarian relief efforts in Gaza, West Bank and Lebanon, supported by our highly experienced senior management team. He will hold the role on an interim basis while the organisation embarks on a comprehensive executive search process for a permanent CEO.

Sarah Eldon, Chair of MAP’s Board of Trustees, said: “In recruiting for this vital role, we have sought to hire someone with extensive relevant experience, who shares in the same values as MAP, and who will be committed to pursuing the full realisation of the rights to health, dignity and justice of the Palestinian people."

"Steve brings a wealth of experience within international development and humanitarian causes, and we are confident his oversight will enable us to continue delivering excellent services for Palestinian communities and uphold our integrity and independence while we search for a permanent CEO.”

Recent roles held by Steve Cutts include Chair of UNFPA’s Oversight Advisory Committee; Partner and Practice Area Lead: Organisational Culture & Performance at Independent Economics; and interim UK Director at the Education Development Trust. Before these positions, Steve also served as Assistant Secretary-General at both the United Nations in New York and the Commonwealth Secretariat in London.

He has extensive experience in the delivery of programmes in challenging environments, including overseeing a $3 billion procurement operation and multi-billion property management account, much of which was located in the toughest peacekeeping and humanitarian settings in the world. Today, much of his work is in helping organisations improve their corporate culture to bring performance benefits and reduce risks.

Steve Cutts said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be taking on the role of interim CEO. It is a great privilege to be able to contribute to MAP's vital work at such a critical time. I look forward to working for all those who make this work possible, including the entire team, our partners and our supporters.”

We will update supporters regarding the recruitment of our next permanent CEO in due course.
