Saf's Quest for Everest!

A 15-day trek of 18,000 feet in an attempt to help Palestinians over the mountain of ill health.

A supporter of MAP, Safa took the decision to raise money for the health and dignity of Palestinians by pledging to climb up 18,000 feet to Everest Basecamp.

“Medical aid is of utmost importance for these people [Palestinians], something most of us are lucky enough to not think twice about here in the UK. MAP not only provides medical aid but also helps train local medical professionals which helps create long term solutions. It is for this reason that I feel passionately about supporting MAP.”

Safa trained for 6 months in order complete her challenge and then went the extra mile and hosted a MAP themed tea party to boost her fundraising efforts and tell people about why she was climbing Everest.

In March, Safa embarked on her journey and climbed through a blizzard and faced freezing temperatures of -10c to complete her journey to basecamp.

“I can’t believe I made it to Everest Base Camp, it was honestly the toughest thing I have ever done in my life.”

Safa’s fantastic effort allowed her to raise £15,600 which was more than her original fundraising target. All funds went directly to MAP programmes helping the medical needs of Palestinians.
