Foodie Fundraising

Is that Za'atar? An evening full of food, culture and fundraising.

MAP supporter, Joan, held a Come Dine For Palestine dinner party and put on a magnificent spread of Palestinian food. There were 34 people who attended and gave their support to Joan and solidarity with Palestinians living under occupation and as refugees.

What was on the table?

Starters had toasted bread ready to be dunked into Palestinian olive oil and za'atar herbs. There was also thick hot soup, made with red lentils and bulgur wheat.

The main course consisted of maftoul (giant couscous) topped with spicy tomato sauce. The second main was a rich and nutty plate of freekeh (roasted green wheat) & chickpea pilaf. With side dishes of aubergine kefte, roasted peppers with marissa glaze, hummus, roasted cauliflower with tahini & pomegranates. Sticky N' spicy aubergines and finally a Palestinian inspired salad.

“Everyone enjoyed it and some want to know when I will be doing another one!”

Dessert was just as busy with a pomegranate passion cake, spiced oil, Pumpkin Cake and baklava.

Joan’s event was very successful and she and was able to raise £1000 for the health and dignity of Palestinians.
